Celebrating Memorial Day 2020 Weekend

Today's post, "Celebrating Memorial Day 2020 Weekend," serves as a reminder that this will be a Memorial Day celebration unlike any other in the past century, possibly history. By definition, Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the US military.

While we will continue to honor our fallen military on Memorial Day, we have an ominous invader hovering over the planet like the Sword of Damocles, striking at random, equipped with stealth-like capabilities and high-speed transmission. While some believe there may be darker days ahead, historically, Americans have long proven that we are more than capable when dealing with seemingly insurmountable odds. 



To that end, we celebrate the multitude of sacrifices made by all of the essential workers. We are grateful for the first responders, all healthcare workers, experts, scientists, and the press. We express gratitude for those who have recovered from the coronavirus. You give us hope for the fight that we face. We celebrate you all!

We send our condolences to those who have lost a loved one as a result of this pandemic. As we offer prayers for those who are no longer with us, we offer prayers of thanks and protection for the sick and shut-in. 

When we come together, very little can stop us.

We must now face this relentless, invisible mutating enemy. We hope that all US citizens and those who reside herein recognize that we are at our strongest when we move forward together. We celebrate the way forward for our planet, with each country indelibly connected, just as we are all connected. We hope for a global strategic plan that unites all nations to combat the pathogen that we face. As some return to work, and many continue to stay at home, we trust that those who are alone, with family or friends, can find the joy they seek this holiday. Therefore, even during this pandemic, we are grateful and celebrate Memorial Day 2020.

The Net-Net

We believe that the health of the country and economic stability is attainable and will come to fruition. The first question is, how long will it take? The second question that we must ask ourselves will help to answer the first; and, that is to what degree can we reach a balance between the health of the economy and the health of its citizens?  As we ponder those questions, we wish you all a safe and reflective Memorial Day.
